Differences between major advertising platforms

Compare search, social and native advertising platforms and the account arrangements your business needs.

Search-led campaigns

Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising offer search advertising where ads can respond to a user's query. Plan keywords, destinations, conversion measurement and appropriate budgets. Their account-management and billing structures are distinct; importing campaigns does not eliminate the need to review settings and eligibility.

Social and video campaigns

Meta, TikTok and Snapchat support social or video advertising environments. Creative formats, audience controls and business-account permissions vary. A personal profile, business portfolio, Business Center or organization is not interchangeable with an advertising account, and access to one asset does not establish ownership of every connected asset.

Native and discovery advertising

Taboola and Outbrain are associated with native or discovery placements. Confirm current product branding and applicable terms—Outbrain materials now reference Teads. Advertiser accounts used to buy campaigns differ from publisher arrangements used to monetize inventory. Compare format, targeting, landing-page requirements and payment terms rather than assuming a native account allows restricted offers.
